The "Stinky" Situation Continues

I said in my last blog that I didn't think our skunk problem was over and sure enough it wasn't! Last night I was awakened by that horrible, nose buring smell of skunk spray. I thought maybe the skunk that lived had come back for revenge. If so then he surely hit his mark. When Gary got up and went outside this morning sure enough there was another skunk in the trap and around the other side was one of the biggest cats I have ever seen. We have had that problem before, with the cat and the skunk under the house fighting to see who gets to remain. They will not live peacefully together. Somehow in chasing each other out from under the house, they both were captured. The skunk was none to happy and put up a bit of a fight. So 3 skunks and a cat later, hopefully we are now rid of them for awhile. But as the warmer tempuratures are calling for Spring to be here soon, we will probably continue this battle again down the road. The summer project list begins to grow.

A "Stinky" situation

For some strange reason our house seems to be the place for skunks to hyberbate. Each winter we battle them under the house. This year was no exception. At night we can hear them scratching and crawling and making so much noise we can't sleep. This year's skunk has seemed to outsmart us. We haven't been able to trap it. Gary puts out the trap and food and we can see that they have been around the trap but do not go in. At last we finally caught not only one but two of the varmits. Gary was very busy and didn't have time to empty the trap for a couple of days, so every morning when I went to work I'd have to go way around them as they hissed their displeasure at me. I called Treyson and Carson to tell them about Grandpa's catch and they both wanted to see what Grandpa caught, so here you go guys. Here are pictures of Grandpa's catch. Treyson wanted me to load the skunk and Grandpa and bring them both to Utah so he could help Grandpa take care of it. I took pictures of them one morning on my way to work. This one was pretty fiesty and didn't like having his picture taken and tried his very best to spray me but he couldn't get his tail up, thank goodness. Gary finally got around to getting them taken care of, put them in a garbage bag and headed for the green waste to get rid of them. He said when he grabbed the bag he felt something move but just figured they had shifted. WRONG!! One of them was still alive. So he set the bag down and ran for the truck just as he saw the mist from the spray coming out of the bag. He narrowly escaped without getting sprayed. He was counting his lucky stars!!
We were hoping this was the end to the story, but no such luck, the next morning once again we saw tracks around the traps. I think that our skunk must have come out to say ha ha to the two that were trapped and found them gone. So this story will I am sure, be continued.

Empty Nest Comes Alive

Kelsey has been back home with us since December. We are enjoying having some life in the house again. She has found new love, so we get to have alittle excitement around the house again. Sean seems to be a very nice young man. Since she met him, she spends lots of time on the road to Pinetop, so once again the house is empty. Funny that I know a lot of the people that Sean lives around. I met them when I worked for Dr. Flake. It really is a small world. I am not sure how long Kelsey will stay with us but we will enjoy her while she is here.

Parents can blog too

I can't believe that I am even thinking of becoming a blogger. But it seems to fit with my hobby which is scrapbooking, so what the heck, I will give it a try. I heard the women in Relief Society talking about blogging. They thought it helped keep their families in touch so I decided that I would give it a try. It also seems to be a good way of keeping track of your life. They said that some people print off the blog and put it in a book as a review of the year. That sounded pretty good. So here I go!!
